Nine area football players will be on Montana’s roster for the 24th annual Knights of Columbus Badlands Bowl on Saturday against the all-stars from North Dakota.

Four additional stars from the area were named alternates for the game.

Glacier, which reached the state for the third time in four seasons in 2016, led the way with four selections to the Montana all-star team (Jaxen Hashley, Kellen Bemis, Pat O’Connell and Taden Gillman).

Polson was the only other area team with multiple selections (Matthew Rensvold and Tanner Wilson). Columbia Falls (Braxton Reiten), Eureka (Joe Fehr) and Whitefish (Travis Catina) each placed one player in the game.

Eureka (Owen Davis and Cannan Smith), Columbia Falls (Dakota Bridwell) and Bigfork (Matt Farrier) had alternates selected for the game.

Eureka coach Trevor Utter is an assistant on the Montana team. Billings Senior’s Chris Murdock is the head coach.

Montana’s best will take on North Dakota in the Badlands Bowl at Connor Stadium in Miles City.

Montana has won 17 of the series’ first 23 games, including 10 of 12 in Miles City. Montana has also won five of the past six meetings, with its lone defeat in that time coming in 2014.
