POLSON — Ryan Veneman hit a grand slam with two outs in the seventh inning to close out the Glacier Twins dominant sweep of the Mission Valley Mariners on Tuesday.

Veneman’s grand slam capped off a 12-1 win for the Twins in the nightcap of the doubleheader, the last of six runs scored in the seventh inning.

Glacier slogged through three scoreless innings to start the second game but broke loose in the fourth, scoring three runs, two off the bat of James Sampson-Keck, who was 2 for 4 in the win with a double and a pair of RBIs.

Glacier scored two more runs in the fifth inning and another in the sixth to take a 6-0 lead before Mission Valley was able to get on the board on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch. The Twins answered with six runs in the seventh, the last four on a homer from Veneman.

The Twins started the opener with a bang, with Coby Clark-Dickenson singling in a run and Veneman stealing home one play later to build a 2-0 lead early.

Clark-Dickenson was one of four batters to single in the fourth inning, adding to three hit batters and an error for six runs.

Eric Dolence doubled for the Mariners in the seventh inning to score two runs but it wasn’t enough, with the Twins winning 8-2.
