Passer-by reports panhandling 'turf war'

Two men reportedly got into a “turf war” over rights to panhandle on a corner of Hutton Ranch Road. A passer-by stated one was holding a sign that said “Vietnam veteran” while the other had a sign that said, “Why lie? I just want beer.” The two were allegedly seen arguing over the patch when one picked up a rock. Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies spoke with one party, the apparent winner, at the location and determined no crime was committed.

A woman reported her ex for allegedly breaking into her house to retrieve his belongings by climbing in through a window. The woman called officers from the bathroom, stating her children were also inside and the man was attempting to get into the bathroom. The man left prior to deputies’ arrival.

A man reported finding his missing dog dead on the railroad tracks near Churmage Lane and stated he believed the dog had been shot. The man said he found holes in the dog’s neck and hip.

A runaway boat was reported after a group overturned the vessel in the Flathead River near Marina Cay. No injuries were reported, and Fish and Game recovered the boat.

A pit bull/shepherd mix was found near Browns Meadows and taken to the county shelter.

A man reported several tools stolen from his unlocked garage.

A resident of Cobbler Village called law enforcement to inform them he had shot two German shepherds for chasing his mules. The dogs’ owner took the dogs to an emergency vet. One died and the other was treated for its wounds. The shooter claimed to be missing several chickens.

A camper on Bitterroot Lane was reportedly broken into and items stolen.

A man allegedly got physical with grocery store employees after he was informed he could not return a prepaid phone card. Employees stated the man became belligerent when they attempted to escort him out of the store and requested Kalispell Police officers’ assistance.

The manager of a hotel on U.S. 93 South reported almost $1,000 missing from a night drop safe.

A guest at a hotel on U.S. 93 reported someone broke into her room and stole items out of a safe.

Two dogs, a black pit bull and a Chihuahua, were reportedly seen running free in the Woodland Park area.

A wolf was reportedly spotted on Locarno Drive, according to the Whitefish Police Department.

After seeing posts on Facebook regarding vandalism to the new parking garage, one person called authorities to admit taking part. The suspect advised officers there were four people involved.

A child allegedly wandered into a woman’s office after escaping undetected from a nearby daycare, according to a Columbia Falls Police report. A separate report was filed after a worker at the daycare allegedly entered the office and began yelling at the woman in front of her customers.
