Part of a field at the intersection of Appleway Drive and Fenn Way was charred before responders gained control of the blaze. About half an acre was burned as gusting winds fanned the flames.

One nearby structure was reportedly evacuated.

Crews from the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, Kalispell Fire Department, Evergreen Fire Department, Smith Valley Fire Department and Kalispell Police Department responded to the scene at about 1:30 p.m.
