Twins split at Ed Gallo Memorial Tournament

WHITEFISH — The Glacier Twins A blanked the Havre NorthStars 5-0 on Saturday morning to stay perfect in the Ed Gallo Memorial Tournament, but they were unable to stay undefeated in the nightcap, falling 5-4 to Volkswagen of Olympia.

Coby Clark-Dickenson struck out nine and allowed just two hits in 5 2/3 innings to lead the Twins over the NorthStars. Nathan Hader finished the game with a perfect 1 1/3 innings.

Seven-run third propels Libby to win in Big Bucks Tournament

LIBBY — The Libby Loggers A scored all of their runs in the first three innings and staved off a late rally by the Strathmore Reds A to pick up a 12-9 victory Saturday in the Big Bucks Tournament.

The Loggers finished pool play with a 3-0 record.

The top of the lineup carried the load for Libby, as the first four batters in the order — Tim Carvey, Jesse Dunham, Shayne Walker and Braydan Thom — combined for nine hits, nine runs and 10 RBIs.

Colten Clemons added a pair of hits for the Loggers, who rode a seven-run third inning to victory.

Libby jumped out to a quick lead with three runs in the first. It added two more runs in the second before the offensive explosion in the third, but Strathmore didn’t go away.

The Reds scored in each of the final four innings, including three runs in the top of the sixth, but the comeback bid fell short.

Walker tossed a six-inning complete game for the Loggers, allowing 10 hits and four walks to go with four strikeouts. Just four of Strathmore’s nine runs were earned.

Libby will play in the tournament championship game today at 3:30 p.m.
