Smith RBI lifts Lakers over Rock Creek

AA Lakers edge Rock Creek on Smith RBI

PULLMAN, Wash. — Torin Bowden doubled off the left-field wall with one out and Dawson Smith followed with a line-drive double to right field to score Bowden in the bottom of the sixth inning, lifting the Kalispell Lakers AA past Rock Creek 2-1 in first-day play at the Palouse Summer Series American Legion baseball tournament on Thursday evening.

Keaden Morisaki drove in Kalispell’s first run in the second inning with a single to tie the game at 1-all.

Both teams had six hits.

The Lakers had six players with one hit. Eric Seaman, Ryan Symmes and Spencer Pisk also singled.

Johan Freudenberg pitched the final 1 1/3 inning to get the win.

Drew Scherrer went the first 5 2/3 for Kalispell. He gave up six hits, struck out four and walked three.

Freudenberg had one strike out.

The Lakers continue with tournament action today at 3 p.m. versus the Crimson Cannon.

On Saturday, the Lakers face the Twin Cities Titans at 9 a.m. and Lewiston, Idaho. At 7 p.m.

The tournament ends Sunday.
