Voisin 4th in World Cup slopestyle finals

Silvaplana/Corvatsch, Switzerland — Whitefish’s Maggie Voisin settled for fourth place in a field of eight finalists on Friday at the 2016-17 slopestyle World Cup finals staged at Silvaplana’s Corvatsch Park.

Voisin posted a score of 78.20

Isabel Atkin won the event with an 88.40 total. It was the first World Cup win for the 18-year old from Great Britain. Her winning score was on her first run, which featured a switch lipslide, wall ride, left 720 safety, a switch dub 12 and a switch left 720 mute according to a Freestyle Ski World Cup press release.

Emma Dahlstrom of Sweden was second, 86.00, and Mathilde Gremaud of Switzerland was third, 80.20.

Dahlstrom has four top three finishes this season.

Teal Harle of Canada won the men’s competition.

Crystal globes were handed out to overall slopestyle World Cup champions Sarah Hoefflin of Switzerland and McRae Williams of the U.S.

Williams finished second on Friday and U.S. teammate Gus Kenworthy was third.

With the World Championships just a couple of days away, the athletes travel to Spain, with the slopestyle competition scheduled to take place March 17-19.
