Mountain lion visits Marion home

A Pleasant Valley Road resident in Marion told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office there had been a mountain lion visiting her porch for two days. The woman also stated she had gotten a call from the nearby school saying there was a mountain lion in the area and to pick up her children after school.

A man requested permission to fire his gun at a golf course in Bigfork in order to convince some squatting geese to move along. The man clarified that he had no intention to shoot at the birds and just wanted to haze them and make them leave. The man reportedly got the all clear from Fish and Game, who advised him which shotgun shells to use for safety. The man was advised to be aware of his backstop, not to shoot directly at the geese and to shoot during reasonable hours.

Someone reportedly siphoned the gas and stole the batteries from two boats in a shop on Whitefish Stage Road. The person reporting the alleged theft claimed that several vehicles had also been rummaged through.

A woman reported more than $500 missing from her bank account after her debit card was allegedly stolen on U.S. 2 East.

Two dogs were found and impounded at the Flathead County Animal Shelter. One was described as having long white hair and a black face and the other was a red and white Australian shepherd.

A Columbia Falls resident reported a suspicious vehicle near Tamarack Lane. The driver was allegedly seen filming the person’s truck and his parents’ home before taking off when the person attempted to follow.

A woman reported seeing a man break into her car, steal her belongings and “bust up her vehicle” before heading southbound on Goat Trail in Whitefish. The alleged thief was said to be driving a green SUV.

Three dogs were found near Rose Crossing in Kalispell. One was allegedly killed by a passing car and was left at the scene. The other two, a border collie/shepherd mix and a white poodle, were rescued by a good Samaritan before being taken to the county animal shelter.

Whitefish Police officers were unable to capture a skittish black husky/malamute puppy that was seen running around near East Lakeshore Drive. The caller said the dog had a pink collar but no tags and seemed fearful of men.
