Gloria Smith, 79

| March 21, 2017 7:20 PM

Gloria Smith, 79, passed away on March 16, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She will be missed by many family and friends.

She was born March 26, 1937, in St. Albans, Vermont. In 1974 Gloria and her family made Montana their home. In 1978 she moved into the home that the family built, and this is where she planned to stay until her death. This goal was met.

She enjoyed the outdoors and always looked forward to a trip to the national forests or Glacier Park. After spending one summer in a tent some would think that she had her fill of camping, but that was not the case. She always looked forword to their next trip.

When she played cards, she was silent but dangerous, usually winning.

Gloria also enjoyed talking about God’s Kingdom that Jesus referred to in the Lord’s Prayer. She held on to the hope of the resurrection until her final days and would tell others about it.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Francis Smith, her children, Jay Smith (Debbie) and Wendy Wilson (Mike), along with six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Teresa Warner, her sisters, Christine Hojaboom, Shirley Bevins, Gerry Corless, her brother Winston Warner and grandson Travis Wilson.

Gloria’s family would like to thank the Home Options Hospice program and all of their fine people who helped in caring for Gloria’s needs.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Whitefish.

Austin Funeral Home is caring for Gloria’s family.
