A married couple from Kalispell denied allegations that they broke into a man’s Helena Flats Road home and attacked him.

Charles Thomas Edenburn, 51, and Jessica Danielle Edenburn, 32, pleaded not guilty to the charge of felony aggravated burglary on March 23 in Flathead District Court.

According to court records, the alleged victim said he was awakened one night in February to the couple beating on the door of his residence. When he refused to let them in, he stated they broke a window and opened the door, gaining unauthorized access to the home.

The two then allegedly attacked the man, hitting him over the head with what he described as a metal object. The man managed to fight them off and call law enforcement.

The next day, while fixing the broken window, the victim’s father allegedly found a small metal sledgehammer that did not belong to them in a trashcan inside the house. It was believed to be the assault weapon.

Separate jury trials have been set for July 3.

If convicted, the husband and wife could face up to 40 years in Montana State Prison and up to a $50,000 fine.
