Students to attend business leadership conference

Eighteen students from Flathead and Glacier high schools have qualified to attend the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference following a state competition in Billings.

Students demonstrated knowledge in business and technological skills in more than 60 competitive events in the areas of finance, business administration, management information systems, digital communication and design in addition to management, marketing and communication over the three-day conference.

At state, Flathead students placed in the following categories: Josh Anderson, third place, Java Programming; Jacob Beaudoin, ninth place, Administrative Support Research Project; Tanis Hadwin, fourth place, Computer Modeling; Riley Kouns, first place, Computer Modeling; Melissa Roybal, ninth place, Prepared Speech; and Kianna Storm who placed in a Start Up Enterprise Team.

Glacier students who placed are as follows: Tyler Brockman, Kennedi Fisher, Noah Mosher and Kennedy Robbins, second place, Administrative Support; Tristen Lang, third place, Extemporaneous Speaking; Annalise McGuire Fender, fourth place, Banking and Finance; Michael Nemes, third place, Personal Finance Management; and Trey Shields, second place in Extemporaneous Speaking. Colin Hill, Selena Ikeda, Olivia Ogle and Brittyn Olsen will be attending the leadership program at nationals.

Business Professionals of America is geared to students pursuing careers in business management, finance, office administration, information technology and other related career fields.

The National Leadership Conference will be held May 10-13 in Orlando, Florida.
