Hellgate knocks off Flathead

MISSOULA — Flathead held a 6-4 lead after two inning before a couple big innings allowed Missoula Hellgate to post a 19-9 Western AA softball victory Friday evening.

Hellgate scored seven runs in the third inning and put the game away with a six-run fifth.

Bailey Nunn led Flathead at the plate, going 3 for 3. She doubled twice and drove in two runs.

Riley Chouinard and Kaileigh Denna both had two hits.

“We hit the ball pretty well, so did they,” Flathead coach Jack Foster said. “Errors didn’t help.”

Flathead had six errors in the contest.

Flathead hosts Class A Polson on Tuesday for a single game starting at 5 p.m. at Kidsports Complex.
