Tennis Glacier's Hill, Gillespie 4th at Helena Invite
HELENA — Meagan Gillespie and Libby Hill of Glacier lost 6-3, 7-5 in the No. 2 doubles consolation finals to place fourth on Saturday at the Helena Invitational tennis tournament.
Gillespie and Hill also lost 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals.
Glacier’s No. 1 doubles team — Tessa Howe and McKenna Johnson — came up short in the semifinals, losing 6-3, 6-3.
Glacier had one singles player —Nina Friedman — in the semifinals. She was beaten by Pilar Santos of Helena High, 6-3, 6-4.
Flathead’s No. 3 doubles team of Sierra Dillworth and Hailey Fennell advanced to the consolation finals, but that was one of several matches halted by lightning.
Flathead and Glacier will compete in divisional action, starting Thursday.

Whitefish vs. Hamilton, Corvallis
The Whitefish girls improved to 13-2 in duals by blanking Hamilton 7-0 and edging Corvallis 4-3 at the Flathead Valley Community College courts.
Whitefish and Corvallis were tied at 3-all with the outcome hinging on No. 2 doubles. Whitefish’s Melissa Pollard and Holly Hileman prevailed 6-4, 5-7, 6-6.
That match was tied 4-4 in the third set.
Pollard and Hileman played No. 1 doubles against Hamilton and won 6-3, 6-2.
The Whitefish boys also came away victories, edging Hamilton 4-3 and dropping Corvallis 5-2.
Ethan Potthoff won twice at No. 2 singles for the Bulldogs as did Brendan Buls and Thomas Carloss at No. 1 doubles.
Whitefish wraps up regular-season action with home duals Friday with Polson and Saturday with Stevensville.
