Fryberger, Benson HR as Polson rolls
BUTTE — Hannah Fryberger homered in both games, Ashley Benson belted her first of the season as Polson crushed Hardin 14-3 and topped Havre 12-5 at the LaVerne Combo Invitational softball tournament on a cold, damp Friday.
Fryberger’s home run against Hardin was in the second inning, a three-run shot to left-center field.
Kaelyn Smith and Laurel Bitterman, the first two hitters in the Polson batting order, both went 4 for 4. Smith doubled and tripled.
Lightning and rain halted the Havre contest in the top half of the fifth inning.
Fryberger and Benson both homered in the second inning of that contest.
Benson’s was with one runner on and Fryberger’s was with two runners aboard. Both were to center field.
Quinn Motichka had two doubles. Fryberger drove in four runs and Benson had three RBIs.
Polson (12-6) plays Conrad today and noon and Lewistown at 4 p.m.

BUTTE — Columbia Falls used a five-run fourth inning to charge past Huntley Project at the LaVerne Combo.
Peyton Kehr and KJ Schweikert both were 2 for 4 and Trista Cowan was 2-2 to power Columbia Falls at the plate. Kehr doubled and Schweikert belted a home run.
Schweikert was also the winning pitcher.
