Corvallis rules at Polson ABC

POLSON — Corvallis swept the boys and girls team titles at the Polson ABC track meet on Saturday, which hosted the top Class A teams from Western Montana.

The Blue Devils did it with depth on the girls side, winning only three individual events but outlegging Whitefish for first by 16 points.

Whitefish’s Lauren Schulz won the 100 and Lydia Kryshak placed first in the 400. Columbia Falls’ Angellica Street won the javelin.

Frenchtown’s Emilie Hinrichs (high jump, shot put) and Stevensville’s Megan Pendergast (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles) were the only girls to win two individual titles.

The Corvallis boys were powered by the Jessop cousins, Jake winning the 800, Andrew the 3,20000 and Zach the javelin.

Columbia Falls’ Braxton Reiten (100), Sage Wanner (1,600), Michael Hoerner (110 hurdles), Ben Windauer (pole vault) and Logan Kolodejchuk (shot put) all won events as the Wildcats finished second as a team.

Polson, in third, got individual victories from Matthew Rensvold (200), Connor Lanier (300 hurdles) and Danny DiGiallonardo (long jump).

Whitefish’s Tyler Cote ran away with a win in the 400.

District 7B

BIGFORK — The Bigfork girls won 9 of 17 events to easily take the District 7B meet on their home track.

Valkyries junior Madison Gardner won the 100, 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles and ran the opening leg on the short relay to earn the most points in the win.

Senior Gabby Eaton won the pole vault and long jump.

Eureka finished second as a team, with individual wins from Kiernan Tullis (shot put) and Jessica Wilson (triple jump).

Libby’s Emily Mossburg won the 200 and 400 on the track and the high jump in the field to help the Loggers finish third as a team.

The Thompson Falls boys got big efforts from a handful of athletes to run away with the boys team title.

Garrett Strine won the 100 and pole vault and finished top three in three other events to lead the Blue Hawks, who also got top performances in multiple events from McKenzie Holt, Kade VanElswyck, Colby Lantz and Danny Hoisington.

Libby finished second as junior Brian Peck won the 200, and the 110 and 300 hurdles.

Gavin Strom won the high jump and long jump and Tim Goodman had meet-best times in the 800 and 1,600.

Eureka took the top three spots in the shot put, led by senior Kaelan Yanak, to finish third as a team.

Jackson Duffey won the 1,600 for the Chiefs on the second day of the meet to help Ronan get over the top.

Kinsely Barney won the 100 and 200 and Ashley McCready won the 800 and 3,200 for the Ronan girls.
