Cadie Williams, a senior forward for Glacier High School, has been selected the Player of the Year for Western AA Division girls soccer.

Williams closed out her brilliant prep career by helping Glacier advance to the Class AA state tournament last month in Bozeman.

She finished the 2017 campaign with 33 goals and 14 assists. For her career, she netted 58 goals and assisted on 31.

Williams is third all-time for most goals scored in a game with six versus Missoula Sentinel this season

She is tied for most all-time for assists in a game with four (2016).

Williams will play collegiate soccer for MSU-Billings.

“She set the bar high for Glacier Wolfpack soccer,” Glacier coach Brenden Byrd said.

“Catie put us in the direction that we needed to go.”

Williams was an all-state selection last year and a four-year starter for the Wolfpack.

“All the coaches (in AA) talked about how humble she was through her four years,” Byrd said. “They all thought very highly of her. She was the first to high-five a person who assisted her on her goal or tell the defense they did a good job.”

Glacier’s Ellie Stevens, a senior midfielder, and Flathead’s Skyleigh Thompson, a freshman forward/defender, joined Williams on the Western AA all-state team.

Glacier’s Micah Hickenthier, Sophie Smith and Lindsay McDonald garnered Western AA all-conference honors along with Flathead’s Clara Vandenbosch and Shayenn Thompson.

Glacier’s Madison Becker and Kenzie Williams and Flathead’s Aaris Hill and Chloe Nadeau were all-conference honorable mention.

The Glacier boys had two Western AA all-state selections in Ryan Symmes, a senior defender, and Brady Schultz, a senior midfielder.

Hanson Eystad, a senior Flathead defender, was named all-state.

Collecting Western AA all-conference honors were Glacier’s Micah Reason, Rohit Tappeta and Connor Hiel along with Flathead’s Brandon Pyron and Jalen Hawes.

Voting for all-state and all-conference was handled by head coaches from the participating schools.
