Troy woman killed in Thanksgiving crash
A 26-year-old Troy woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Montana 35 Thanksgiving night.
The woman was driving a 1993 Nissan Altima southbound on the highway near Broeder Loop Road at 7:06 p.m. when she reportedly veered into the northbound lane.
The driver of a 2004 Chevy Tahoe told Montana Highway Patrol troopers that he was driving around a curve when he saw the Nissan in his lane. The Tahoe driver, 64, from Kalispell, braked and steered to the right in an attempt to avoid a collision. The Altima driver attempted to correct back into the southbound lane when the Tahoe impacted her vehicle on the driver’s-side door, according to the incident report.
The driver of the Altima was not wearing a seat belt. She died at the scene.
The Kalispell man was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
The road conditions were wet and it was raining at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not being considered a factor in the incident.
The incident is being investigated by the Montana Highway Patrol.
