'Redheaded Robbie's Christmas Story'
“Redheaded Robbie’s Christmas Story” comes alive on the Lincoln County High School stage on Dec. 1, 2 and 3. Directed by John and Sharon LaBonty of the Eureka Community Players, this enchanting musical stars local children and is produced by the Whitefish Credit Union.
Mrs. Wallace (Morgan Reynolds) informs her class that one student will be randomly chosen to make up a story and tell it to the Christmas assembly. All the students beg to be picked except for Redheaded Robin (Sophia Lord), whose words come out funny whenever she is nervous. Robin is selected and she asks Big Eddie (Connor Lord), Cool Katie (Jazmyn Schumacher), and Munching Max (Colin Hickman) for help. These friends suggest stories about presents, parties and pranks, but Robin reminds them that Christmas is for sharing, kindness and forgiveness.
Along the way to her story, Robin is visited in a dream by marching fruitcakes, dancing snowflakes and a talking raisin. Other children playing multiple parts in this play include Milynn Lucey, Brysen and Maura Miller, Emma and Lucretia Reynolds and Mason Hickman. Accompanying the singers is Jessica Hickman on the piano.
The audience is invited to the one-room school’s Christmas assembly where all of the children perform pieces that they have created. The students end the assembly knowing the true spirit of Christmas and the audience will enjoy this start to a busy holiday season.
Friday and Saturday performances are at 7 p.m. at the LCHS auditorium in Eureka. Sunday’s matinee at 3 p.m. is a fundraiser for the Tobacco Valley Food Pantry. On Sunday, a variety of church choirs and musicians will also be performing with a reception to follow. Tickets for all performances are available at the door.
“Redheaded Robbie’s Christmas Story” is an adaptation of the book by Bill Luttrell with music by Carol Luttrell, produced by special arrangement with The Samuel French Co.
