Ballroom dance workshop coming to Kalispell

| October 5, 2017 12:58 PM

Laurel Rose and Sean Brunell, award-winning ballroom dancers and co-owners of Pasadena, California’s top ballroom dance studio, are bringing modern social ballroom dancing to Kalispell’s Outlaw Inn.

On Oct. 14 their company, Ballroom Dance Productions, will be hosting a day-long dance camp. This all-inclusive event will cover four classes in four different social dance styles, lunch for all-day pass holders, and a two-hour evening social with professional performances by Brunell and Rose.

This isn’t the first time the duo have brought their unique vision of social ballroom dance to Kalispell. On July 14 they hosted the “Evening of Ballroom,” a two-and-a-half hour dance and performance held in downtown Kalispell’s historic Brewery Saloon building. Packing the small ballroom wall to wall with local dancers doing everything from the tango to the cha cha, Brunell and Rose got the whole room moving.

For the pair the most gratifying part of hosting their events is meeting and teaching others with a passion for dance and their community. Encompassing a very wide age range of dancers, the “Evening of Ballroom” saw everyone from high schoolers to senior citizens all learning, smiling and dancing together. They are aiming for a similar inclusive atmosphere at the upcoming event.

“Our goal in hosting this dance camp is two-fold: both to give the tight-knit dance community in Kalispell another outlet for their dancing and to introduce social partner dancing to others with an interest in dance who may not otherwise know where to learn,” according to the event press release.
