Glacier boys pick up 3rd road soccer victory in 5 days

HELENA — Glacier finally broke through in the 65th minute on a penalty kick by Micah Reason and Dyllyn Stabler added a goal 12 minutes later to give the Wolfpack a tough 2-0 Western AA boys soccer victory over a stubborn Helena Capital squad on Saturday.

Glacier had 12 shots on goal to Capital’s three.

Glacier held a big edge in corner kicks, 7-2, and was guilty of 18 fouls to 10 for Capital.

“It was tight,” Glacier coach Ryan Billiet said.

“We had some looks. It was one of those games that didn’t have any tempo to it.”

It was the third match in five days, all on the road, for Glacier (8-1-3 overall, 6-1-3 conference) who went 3-0.

The Wolfpack conclude regular-season action hosting Missoula Sentinel on Tuesday and facing Flathead on Thursday at Legends Stadium.

HELENA — Jackson Keller scored two goals and Dawson Tedesco and Treven Maharg also scored in Helena High’s Western AA victory over Flathead.

Flathead’s scoring and match statistics were not available.

Flathead has two regular-season matches remaining — Thursday versus Glacier at Legends Stadium and Saturday at Missoula Sentinel.

WHITEFISH — Avery Hirsch scored three goals, the first two coming in the first seven minutes of play, as Whitefish rolled by Bigfork in a Northern A match.

Noah Romagnuolo and Leo Motti had two goals each for the explosive Bulldogs.

This was the regular-season finale for both schools.

HELENA — It was a rough week for Glacier as the Wolfpack fell for the third time in five days, this time to Helena Capital.

Cadie Williams gave Glacier (8-3-1 and 6-3-1) an early 1-0 lead, but Capital tied it on a goal by Ashley Carlson and Ellie Stiffler netted the game winner in the second half.

Glacier lost to Helena High 3-0 on Friday and Missoula Sentinel 4-2 on Tuesday.

The Wolfpack conclude regular-season action hosting Missoula Sentinel on Tuesday and facing Flathead on Thursday at Legends Stadium.

WHITEFISH — Anna Cook scored the first two goals and Josephine Brown, Ali Hirsch and Pixie Moore had the final three as Whitefish whipped Bigfork in a Northern A match and the regular-season finale.

Whitefish finished 7-1 in league play, but will be the second seed for the upcoming playoffs behind Columbia Falls on goal differentials. Columbia Falls was also 7-1.

It was just the second goal of the season for Brown, who also netted a shot against Bigfork in an earlier meeting.

Stillwater Christian School (7-5-0) split nonconference road games over the weekend in Washington.

On Saturday, St. George blanked Stillwater 5-0.

On Friday, Stillwater used a pair of first half goals by Lulu Neumann and Julia Pittaway to rally for a 2-1 win over Northwest Christian School.

Neumann scored on a free kick outside the box in the 30th minute. Pittaway netted her shot off a defender’s clear in the 37 minute.
