Hellgate bounces Bravettes

MISSOULA — Missoula Hellgate ended Flathead’s season on Tuesday, beating the Bravettes 4-0 in a Class AA state playoff game.

Andi Carnes had a goal and an assist for the Knights, who exploded for three goals after halftime to run away with the final score.

“It was an amazing season with so many close games,” Flathead coach Jenni Sipe said. “For anyone who looks at the record, it just doesn’t define what I think is the type of season we had. This team is going to be dangerous in future years.”

The Knights advance to play Glacier in another playoff game on Friday. The Wolfpack won both of the meetings earlier this year, topping Hellgate 5-0 in Kalispell and 2-0 on the road.

Flathead outshot Hellgate on goal 12-10, but the Bravettes were unable to convert their opportunities as the Knights did.

Stillwater Christian 1, Sandpoint JV 0

Linnea Hodgskiss denied 12 shots on goal from the Sandpoint (Idaho) junior varsity team in a shutout, leading Stillwater Christian to a win.

Alma Patrick scored Stillwater’s lone goal off an assist from Lulu Neumann in the 57th minute.

The Cougars (9-5) got revenge for their earlier meeting against the Sandpoint JV, which ended in a 3-0 defeat.

Stillwater concludes its regular season at 11 a.m. on Oct. 21 with a home match against Mission Valley Christian Academy.

Stilwater Christian edged the Sandpoint (Idaho) junior varsity team on Tuesday afternoon in a back-and-forth affair.

Caleb Cole-Tinkham earned Stillwater a tie at halftime with a goal in the 39th minute, and two goals in the second half — scored in consecutive minutes — from Dac King and Kevin Larsdhtid gave the Cougars all the cushion needed to outlast Sandpoint on a windy afternoon.

Stillwater returns to the pitch on Thursday at 4 p.m. with a match against the Missoula Big Sky JV squad.
