A 33-year-old man has been charged with a felony after allegedly driving with a breath-alcohol concentration four times the legal limit with a child passenger.

According to court documents, at 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 4, Flathead County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop after observing Matthew Curtis Jarman’s vehicle turning onto U.S. 2 in a reckless manner.

A deputy reportedly smelled alcohol on Jarman’s breath when talking to him and observed an 8-year-old child was also in the vehicle. Jarman allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol before driving. The deputy requested a breath sample from Jarman after he reportedly exhibited sighs of impairment during field sobriety tests. The sample showed a breath alcohol concentration of 0.318, according to court documents. The legal limit in Montana is 0.08.

An arraignment hearing is set Sept. 21.
