Michael 'Mick' B. Nelson, 70

Michael “Mick” B. Nelson, 70, of Eureka, passed away at his home on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, of natural causes.

He was born Dec. 13, 1946, in Walla Walla, Washington, to Grant and Elaine (Helburg) Nelson. Mick grew up and attended school in Eureka, graduating from Lincoln County High School with the Class of 1964. He attended college in Billings for two years and then returned to Eureka to work and raise funds for more education.

He was drafted into the United States Army while working in Eureka. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Mick returned to Eureka where he went to work for his father who owned Koocanusa Plumbing and Electric. Mick never retired. He worked until a week before his death.

Mick enjoyed the activities that Northwest Montana offered. He liked hunting, camping, boating, fly fishing and spending time in the great outdoors.

Survivors include his children, Bonnie Nelson-Conard (Donald) of Eureka, Grant Nelson of Burley, Idaho, Misty Kintz (Ted) of Oregon, and Chad Yatch of Billings; his sister, Dianne Schermerhorn (Dexter) of Eureka; ex-wife, Patsy Smith; and two grandchildren, Micklay and Madyson.

Graveside services for Mick will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka.
