Eureka rolls by Loyola

EUREKA — Garrett Graves had five touchdown passes and scampered 46 yards for another score as Eureka (5-0 overall, 3-0 league) rolled by Missoula Loyola (3-3, 2-1) 51-28 Friday evening in a Western B football contest.

This was a rematch of last year’s Class B state championship game, won by Eureka 31-28 on a long touchdown pass with no time remaining.

Graves was 12 of 21 passing for 223 yards.

He was intercepted twice.

Brenton Pluid had two touchdown receptions — 18 and 27 yards. Hank Dunn, Chet McCully and Jake Kindel had the other TD catches.

Eureka led 24-14 at the half.

THOMPSON FALLS — Quarterback Augie Emslie passed for three touchdowns and Luke Schmit returned a kickoff 70 yards for another score as Bigfork trumped Thompson Falls in Western B play.

Bigfork led 36-0 at the half.

Emslie had TD passes of 27 yards to Austin Varner, 25 yards to Logan Taylor and 5 yards to Anders Epperly.

Taylor also had a 4-yard scoring run, Randy Stultz ripped off a 25-yard touchdown run and Bigfork’s defense scored on a safety by Drayson Heingarnter.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Colton McPhee rushed for three touchdowns and 102 yards and also had a touchdown reception as Columbia Falls crushed Browning in a Northwest A contest.

McPhee had scoring runs of 21, 25 and 9 yards. His touchdown catch from Austin Green covered 22 yards.

Green finished with 124 yards rushing on four attempts and ran 57 yards for a TD.

Logan Kolodejchuck had the other Columbia Falls score on a 9-yard run.

Auguste Emond was 6 for 6 on PAT kicks.

Columbia Falls had 310 yards rushing and 82 passing. Browning finished with 27 rushing yards and 94 passing.

It was homecoming for Columbia Falls (3-1) and the team’s first home game of the season.

WHITEFISH — Ronan scored with 55 seconds, but Whitefish recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock to preserve the tight Northwest A victory.

Forrest Kolbet rushed for 104 yards on 25 attempts and two scores for Whitefish. His TD runs were from 2 and 1 yard.

Jack Eisenbarth had Whitefish’s other TD on a 4-yard run.

Carver Gilman opened the scoring, hitting a 47-yard field in the opening quarter for a 3-0 Whitefish (1-4) lead.

Ronan had three turnovers — Josh Dudley and Eisenbarth had pass interceptions for the Bulldogs and Dillon Muth recovered a fumble.
