Don K. Savelle, 67

| April 1, 2018 4:00 AM

“After a diagnosis of melanoma in 2008, I vowed to live until I died and live I did, with fun, laughter, friends, family and travel. Because I could not stop for death, he kindly stopped for me...on Saturday March 24, 2018 at my home in Village Greens, with my devoted and richly loved wife Rebekah at my side.

“I was born in Topeka, Kan. on December 12, 1950. The older son of James Kenneth and Marion Patricia (Curry) Savelle. I was preceded in death by them as well as my sister, Patricia Ann Kilgore. I leave my brother Jay Kevin and his wife Catherine Savelle, my sister and brother-in-law, Malinda Kay and Phillip Glenn Maroney, and three nieces and three nephews.

“I was more publicly known locally as the last owner of Grapevine Video in Bigfork and later of Kalispell. Additionally, I served as a substitute teacher in Flathead County Schools in the early 2000s. First Baptist Church in Marion was my spiritual home from 1999 until 2001. There, I was saved from the penalty of sin trusting in Christ as my savior. I then joined Bethel Baptist Church in Kalispell in September 2001. Over these years I served as usher, sound technician, and church librarian. It was at Bethel that I met Rebekah Lynn Eslick who would become my wife in April 2006.

“These past twelve years have been wonderful. God and Becky have made our home so special. Often dear family and friends have graced our home where food and laughter welcomed them all. My faith and trust in Jesus Christ’s atoning death on the cross and His glorious resurrection have made the death of this sinner a cause for infinite excitement and jubilation. ‘...and the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work and will preserve me unto His heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen’ (2 Timothy 4:18 KJV). I pray that all who share my faith and trust in Christ will know His comfort at my passing. Those who do not share His love, may they come to a saving faith. To all believers, I merely say, ‘See ya soon.’

“A celebration to God for my life will be held at Bethel Baptist Church at 936 4th Ave. W in Kalispell on Saturday April 7 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers kindly make a donation to Bethel Baptist Church. Blessed be His name.”
