Interfaith Peace Service on April 8

Various faith leaders from different religions, denominations and churches around the Flathead will gather April 8 at the Gateway Community Mall’s event space at 1203 Hwy 2 W, Kalispell for an Interfaith Peace Service.

The purpose of the event, according to the leaders, is to “encourage people of all faiths and philosophies to join together in a common desire for peace in our world, in our communities, our schools and our homes.”

“We hope people will make the effort to come to the Gateway Mall and share in this meaningful experience together. We have so much more that unites us than divides us,” said Pastor Andy Wendle, one of the partners in the service.

While there is a group of eight houses of worship co-sponsoring this first service, everyone in the community is invited to attend the service and share in the prayers and songs of peace and unity. There will be opportunities for fellowship before and after the service.

The event will take place from 5-6 p.m. at the community center, specifically chosen as a non-religious, non-denominational venue open to all who want to attend.

The current group of cosponsors includes Bethlehem Lutheran Church (Kalispell), Eidsvold Lutheran Church (Somers), Glacier Jewish Community/B’nai Shalom (Kalispell), Glacier Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (Kalispell), Our Saviors Lutheran Church (Columbia Falls), Whitefish United Methodist Church (Whitefish) and the Montana Interfaith Network.

Glacier Church to host guest pastor

Glacier Church will host world-renowned speaker, writer and pastor Gayle Erwin Sunday, April 8.

Erwin travels internationally, speaking on “the Nature of Jesus, a message developed over a lifetime of study and experience -- a simple message of servant lifestyle for this complex age.”

Erwin has created five magazines, served six years as a college teacher and twenty years as a pastor.

Now, as the director of a ministry called “Servant Quarters,” he spends his time writing and speaking at conferences and retreats.

Free and open to the public, Erwin will speak beginning at 10 a.m. at 690 Grandview Drive, Kalispell.
