Upcoming storm should push Billings over snowfall record
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A weekend snow storm should push the city of Billings well past its seasonal snowfall record, while Havre is inching closer to a record winter.
The Billings Gazette reports 103.1 inches (2.62 meters) of snow has fallen at Billings Logan International Airport so far this winter, which is 0.4 inches (1 centimeter) below the record set in the winter of 2013-14.
The National Weather Service says a storm expected to begin Thursday afternoon and continue into Friday could drop another 9 inches (23 centimeters) of heavy, wet snow in Billings.
In north-central Montana, the Havre Daily News reports Havre has received 92.5 inches (2.35 meters) of snow, including 5 inches (13 centimeters) over the weekend.
Havre is 0.9 inch (2.3 centimeters) short of the snowfall record. Thursday's storm is forecast to drop less than an inch (2.5 centimeters) of snow in Havre.
