Flathead and Glacier already have a back-up plan in place if today’s crosstown tennis dual at Flathead Valley Community College is postponed because of the weather.

“If it’s canceled, we’ll play at noon on Friday,” Glacier coach Josh Munro said.

Flathead and Glacier schedule two crosstown matches every spring, but one always seems to get weathered out.

“We haven’t played two in years,” Munro said.

“Maybe once or twice we have (played both crosstown matches in a season) in 10 years.”

The weather has been so bad that both schools have yet to get a match in this season.

Duals with Great Falls High and Great Falls C.M. Russell in the Electric City were canceled in late March and will not be rescheduled.

Last week both schools were supposed to be in Missoula on a Saturday, but that was postponed.

Thus far, Flathead and Glacier has had five duals called off.

“This year has been very tough,” Munro said.

“Weather has chopped the season up. I would say we’re way behind previous seasons and where we want to be, but so is the rest of the state.”

Munro said only 7 of the 14 AA schools have played a match.

“Butte has two,” he said. “They are way ahead of everybody.”

Glacier and Flathead will wrap up the week at FVCC on Saturday with matches at 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. against Missoula Hellgate, Missoula Sentinel and Missoula Big Sky.

“This is Week 5 of the season,” Munro said.

“We haven’t played.”

Not counting spring break, he said his team has only had four outdoor practice sessions.

Regarding today’s crosstown, the Glacier girls lead the series with Flathead 14-0-1 while the Glacier boys are 14-1-0.

Glacier will have four players competing today in the crosstown for the fourth straight year — McKenna Johnson, Tyler Keller, Logan Hill and Morgan Cordell.
