MISSOULA — Alivia Atlee punctuated an early scoring explosion with a grand slam in the second inning of Glacier’s 12-4 Western AA conference softball victory over Missoula Hellgate on Friday afternoon.

Glacier has won three in a row.

“It was a good all-around team effort,” Glacier coach Abby Connolly said.

The Wolfpack (4-3 overall, 3-3 league) scored four runs in the first inning before Atlee’s blast in the second that easily cleared the left-field fence. Glacier added one run in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Kynzie Mohl provided two hits from the leadoff spot and picked up the win in the circle.

“She went in there and she just hit her spots pretty well,” Connolly said of Mohl’s outing. “Her teammates really backed her up on defense.”

Sophie Smith was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate.

Glacier is back home today at 2 p.m. versus Butte.

COLUMBIA FALLS — A change of plans didn’t affect Columbia Falls whatsoever.

After their originally scheduled game for today in Browning was moved to Friday in Columbia Falls, the Wildkats exploded for 21 runs and 23 hits to dismantle Browning in just three innings.

“It’s just contagious,” Columbia Falls coach Dave Kehr said of his team’s offensive display.

“They just were comfortable at the plate. They were relaxed and swinging well.”

Ryley Kehr provided much of the offensive firepower for Columbia Falls. She was a perfect 4 for 4 at the dish with seven RBIs, four of which came on a third-inning grand slam. Kehr also had two doubles.

Kaylee Ash notched three hits and four RBIs from the leadoff spot, and Raychel Horner was 4 for 4 with two runs driven in. The Wildkats first five batters were a combined 17 for 18 on the day.

“We really did hit the ball well,” Kehr said. “The girls were relaxed. The weather was good. It really did feel like a good day to play.”

Columbia Falls hosts Polson at 5:30 p.m. Monday for a make-up game.
