School calendar

- Global Youth Service Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 21 at the Kalispell Public Schools central kitchen located at 106 Northwest Lane in Kalispell. - The public is invited to attend a free presentation by Stacy York, a licensed clinical social worker specializing in responding to children who have experienced trauma from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 21 at Flathead Valley Community College in the Arts and Technology Building. York will help participants understand how trauma impacts children of any age and what research- and evidence-based strategies to use in helping them. Lunch will be provided. - The Helena Flats School community is invited to meet school board candidates at 6:30 p.m. April 23 in the library. Refreshments will be served.

- School will be in session on April 23 in Whitefish School District. It was previously listed as a snow makeup day on the school calendar. Snow make-up days are now set for June 8, the afternoon of June 7 and the morning of June 9 if needed. The changes are a result of the school closures in September due to cyber threats.

- Smith Valley School’s kindergarten roundup is planned from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on April 24. Children must be 5 by Sept. 10. Birth certificates and immunization records must be presented at the time of registration. Children will also be screened during the appointment. Make an appointment by calling 756-4535.

- Smith Valley School will have an early dismissal on April 25.

- Glacier High School juniors and parents are invited to a free financial aid and college application presentation from 5:30-6:30 p.m. April 26.

- April 26 is the deadline to submit an application and essay for the Junior Police Leadership Academy. The academy will be held July 8-14 in Helena. There is no cost to attend and the academy is open to high school sophomores through seniors. Interested students should contact his or her respective school resource officer or visit http://www.macop.com for more information or to get an application. Students selected to attend will be notified in May.

- There is no school in Olney-Bissell on April 27.

- Muldown Elementary’s kindergarten roundup will be held form 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 27 at the school, 1300 East Seventh St., Whitefish. Child must be 5 by Sept. 10. Immunization record and birth certificate must be presented at the time of registration. A preschool developmental screening is also scheduled from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Call 862-8620 for more information.

- “Community Rocks!” a family-friendly concert is planned from 3:30-7 p.m. April 29 at the armory. Admission is $5 for children and $10 for adults and includes a spaghetti dinner. The Whitefish Community School a non profit preschool.

- Stillwater Christian School’s For Such a Time as This — an evening with Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is scheduled for May 2 at the Flathead County Fairgrounds. Tickets may be purchased online at www.stillwaterchristianschool.org or by calling 406.752.4400.

- The public is invited to attend a community forum on Deer Park School’s bond issue from 6-8 p.m. on May 3 at the school.

- The Imagine IF Anime Club will meet from 4-5:30 p.m. May 3 at the Kalispell library. Open to grades sixth through 12th. Showing this month is “My Hero Academa.”

- Swan River students have no school on May 11.

- Bigfork Elementary kindergarten registration is May 11. Schedule an appointment by calling 406-837-7412.

- May 15 is the deadline to register for kindergarten in West Valley School. Eligible children must be 5 before Sept. 10. Birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency must be presented at the time of registration.

- Smith Valley School will have an early dismissal on May 16.

- A kindergarten- through fourth-grade Spring Learning Celebration and Concert will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 17 at Fair-Mont Egan School.

- A teen social is planned from 4-5:30 p.m. May 17 at ImagineIF library in Kalispell. The featured craft will be T-shirt painting and decorating.

- Students at Fair-Mont-Egan School have a 1:30 p.m. early dismissal on May 18.

- The Bigfork Booster Club annual spring barbecue fundraiser will be held May 20. Tickets are $100 and include dinner, drinks and entry into a $10,000 grand-prize drawing. Tickets can be purchased at the Bigfork Village Florist or from booster club members. Proceeds benefit athletic and extracurricular activities at Bigfork School District. - An early dismissal is planned in Kalispell Public Schools on May 23 for teacher training.

- A fifth- through eighth-grade Spring Learning Celebration and Concert will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 24 at Fair-Mont Egan School.

- There is no school May 28 in observance of Memorial Day.

- Whitefish Independent High School students will graduate May 31.
