Glacier High School Principal Callie Langohr is being recommended as the new assistant superintendent of Kalispell Public Schools.

The recommendation will be voted on at a school board meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, in the Kalispell Middle School library. If approved, Langohr will assume her new duties July 1. The Glacier principal position would open April 25, followed by formation of an interview committee with interviews tentatively set May 23.

She will replace current district Assistant Superintendent Andrea Johnson, who is retiring this year with plans to complete her doctorate.

“With Andrea Johnson’s retirement announcement, I have given much thought to the best path to take in filling this position. Given a number of factors and circumstances I believe filling this position from within our staff is the best option to pursue. We need someone who can hit the ground running when it comes to the many responsibilities that this position entails,” Kalispell Superintendent Mark Flatau stated in an email to staff, later noting, “Callie’s experience in the district as well as her skill set lends itself well in fulfilling these duties.”

Some of the duties of assistant superintendent include oversight of K-12 curriculum, instruction and assessment; professional development and mentoring; middle and high school activities; annual budget audit; driver’s education; and summer school.

Langohr has served as principal at Glacier since the school opened in 2007. Prior to that she was principal of Flathead High School for seven years. Langohr is a 1971 Flathead graduate. She hold a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a physical science minor from Montana State University. She earned a Master of Education in Career Guidance and Counseling from Montana State University Northern.
