Glacier athletes stand out at Top 10 track meet

MISSOULA — Glacier had four individual winners and won two relays on Tuesday evening at the Top 10 track and field meet.

Event winners for the Wolfpack were: Drew Turner, 200 (2.62); Drew Deck, 300 hurdles (40.64); Bennett McChesney, javelin (183-0); and Annie Hill, 3,200 (10:38.08). Hill’s time is a meet record.

The Glacier boys took first place in the 400 (42.97) and 1,600 (time not available) relays.

Other local winners were: Colton Cote, Polson, 110 high hurdles (15.53); and Bryn Morley, Bigfork, 1,600 (4:50.05).

Placing second for Glacier were Turner in the 100, Mark Estes in the 200, Joseph VandenBos in the 1,600 and Simon Hill in the 3,200.

Bigfork’s Haile Norred was second in the 400 and Columbia Falls’ Angellica Street was the runner-up in the javelin.

Eureka ABC Top 8 Meet

EUREKA — Eureka’s Chet McCully was a triple winner on Tuesday, sprinting to first-place finishes in the hurdles — 110 (15.73) and 300 (42.39) — and clearing 11-6 to best the pole vault competition.

Double winners were: Lauren Schulz, Whitefish, in the 100 (13.55) and 200 (28.44); Kennedy Grove, Whitefish, in the 100 (17.57) and 300 (53.42) hurdles; Elizabeth Pacella, Eureka, in the pole vault (8-3) and triple jump (33-11 1/4); Tamika Guardipee, Browning, in the shot put (32-0) and discus (98-11 1/2); and Michael Durglo,St. Ignatius, in the shot put (45-11 1/2) and discus (129-1).

Eureka’s Karlee Frost set a new school record in the javelin with her winning throw of 130-9.
