Ted W. Waggener, 93

Ted W. Waggener, of Kalispell, passed peacefully on April 18, 2018.

He was born July 9, 1924, in Brownsville, Oregon, to Everett and Ella Waggener. He moved to the Flathead Valley with his family at a young age.

Ted enlisted in the U.S. Navy in May 1943 and was honorably discharged in December 1945.

Upon returning from the Navy he helped build Hungry Horse Dam. He then joined the Kalispell Police force and served our city for 20 years, retiring as Chief of Police.

Ted married Lois “Dode” Harmon on July 8, 1944. They had three children, all raised in the Flathead. During these years, Ted, Dode and family were active with the horse community.

After retirement they owned and operated Our Point of View Motel south of Bigfork for 15 years, until Dode’s passing on July 10, 1989.

On Jan. 28, 1992, Ted married Hilda Strand Waggener. They enjoyed life on Echo Lake until her passing.

He later married Janice Ellefson Waggener, who now survives him.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Verna Erickson, and his son James E. Waggener.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Ted A. and daughter-in-law Trudy Waggener, his daughter Carol Waggener, and daughter-in-law Sue Waggener. Ted is also survived by nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home.
