Renowned cellist to perform in Whitefish

Cellist Inbal Segev, known for her “glowing, burnished tone,” according to the Washington Post, is a featured guest soloist at the 10th annual Festival Amadeus in concerto and chamber music performances on Aug. 7 and 10. 

On Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., Segev performs Haydn’s “Cello Concerto No. 2 in D Major” with the Festival Amadeus Orchestra led by John Zoltek. Entitled “Summer Pastoral,” this orchestral opening night concert also includes Honegger’s “Summer Pastoral” and Mozart’s “Symphony No. 25 in G minor” at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center.

On Friday, Aug. 10 at 7:30 p.m., Segev joins forces with violinist Tim Fain and pianist Alon Goldstein. On this “Power Trio” Chamber Cabaret, the musicians will perform Beethoven’s “Piano Trio in D Major,” “Op. 70, No. 1 ‘Ghost’”; Bernstein’s “Piano Trio”; and Dvorák’s “Piano Trio No. 4 in E minor,” Op. 90 “Dumky.” Table seating is available for this performance, held in the O’Shaughnessy Cultural Arts Center.

 Inbal Segev’s playing has been described as “delivered with impressive fluency and style,” by The Strad. Equally committed to new repertoire and known masterworks, Segev brings interpretations that are both unreservedly natural and insightful to the vast range of solo and chamber music that she performs.  

Segev has performed as soloist with acclaimed orchestras internationally and made debuts with the Berlin Philharmonic and Israel Philharmonic, led by Zubin Mehta, at age 17. She has commissioned new works by Avner Dorman, Timo Andres, Gity Razaz, Dan Visconti and more. In 2018, Segev was the first cellist to perform Christopher Rouse’s Violoncello Concerto since Yo-Yo Ma premiered it in the 1990s. She is also a founding member of the Amerigo Trio with former New York Philharmonic concertmaster Glenn Dicterow and violist Karen Dreyfus.
