Peggy Christensen, 74

It is with sadness and a heavy heart I announce the passing of Peggy Christensen. Peggy was born on July 19, 1946, and passed on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at the age of 74.

Peggy passed peacefully with her family at her bedside at St. Patrick’s in Missoula. On July 31, she was laid to rest at her home, on a beautiful hillside in Helmville.

Peggy is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” of over 50 years. Peggy was hitchhiking and was picked up by Bob on his motorcycle. After Bob stopped to give her a lesson on leaning correctly, they took off again and the rest is happy history. She would often say, “I’ve been leaning his way ever since.”

Peggy is also survived by her oldest son RJ Christensen, RJ’s daughter Megan Christensen, and grandson David Craven, her daughter-in-law Angie Christensen, and her four children, Ashley, Amber, Cody and Caitlin, and her adopted daughter Laurel Downey.

“She has joined her youngest son Chris-topher Alan Christ-ensen in heaven.”

She has over 35 foster children she helped raise throughout the years. Peggy was the co-founder/director of A Ray of Hope for the last 20 years and has touched the hearts of countless people in Montana and beyond.

While she was a faithful advocate for the needy and homeless, she was also a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Canvas Church, 255 Summit Ridge Drive, Kalispell, followed by a celebration of life reception at 12:30 p.m. at the new shelter, 106 Fifth Ave. W., Kalispell. Cookies and coffee will be provided. Bring something to share, if you wish.
