LEWISTON, Idaho — The Glacier Twins crushed the Cody (Wyoming) Cubs 13-0 to capture the Northwest Class A Regional American Legion baseball tournament title on Tuesday evening.

The Twins (41-16) scored in every inning to end the contest by the run rule.

Cody, the Bitterroot Red Sox and Glacier Twins all had one tournament loss heading into the final day. The Cubs beat the Red Sox 7-6 in eight innings to advance to the championship game with the Twins.

“It was anticlimactic,” Twins coach Scott Murray said.

“We put things away early.”

Glacier scored three runs in the first, fourth and fifth innings. The Twins scored twice in the second and third.

Glacier had 13 hits.

“It was fun,” Murray said.

“Our bats were working well and Colby (Clark-Dickenson) was just on today like he normally is.”

Clark-Dickenson picked up the win. He held Cody to one hit. He fanned five batters and walked two.

“He was the difference for us,” Murray said of Clark-Dickenson. “One of the major pluses on our side was coach (Treyson) Hopkins pulled Cody under 60 pitches in Game 1 (on Friday) so we had him for this one. He (Hopkins) set us up for this championship game. We had our ace (Clark-Dickenson) on the hill.”

Leadoff hitter Ryan Veneman sparked the Twins offensive attack. He was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and scored twice.

Terek Bistodeau, 2 for 3, drove in three runs and scored three times.

Dan Seymour, 2 for 3, and Quintin Schriver, 2 for 4, had two RBIs each. Tom Hellwig, Schriver and Bistodeau all doubled. Veneman tripled.

“I’m telling you, if it’s gonna end, this was a good way to end it,” Murray said of the season. “I will miss being around these guys. They are quality young men.”

Clark-Dickenson was named the tournament MVP for his pitching, hitting and defense.

“He made some plays (defensively) that made the umpires turn and smile,” Murray said.

“On the bump, he was fantastic.”

In addition to passing the 40-win mark for the season, the Twins also had a 25-game winning streak. That ended Monday evening in a 4-2 loss to the Red Sox.

The Twins were 7-0 this season against the Red Sox heading into that game.
