Betty R. Shook, 91

Betty R. Leighty Shook passed on July 31, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Care Center.

She was born on Feb. 2, 1927, to Dave and Emma Leighty in Columbia Falls. She attended Bad Rock School and graduated from Flathead County High School.

On May 7, 1949, she was married to Carl D. Shook at Epworth United Methodist Church. She was a member of Epworth and for many years was a member of the United Methodist Women. One of her special joys was volunteering during lunch time with Smith Memorial Daycare at the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, her parents, her two brothers Harold and Herb Leighty, and two sisters Dorothy Anderson and Rubella McPheeters.

She is survived by three nieces, Kristi and Ken Waymire, Susan and Vince Mescall and family, Jan Tenzler and family, Ann Leighty, and three special Columbia Falls cousins Shirley Folkwein, Ruth Clawson and Lucy Yeats. She was blessed to have the love of an “adopted” family: Mike and Lore Davis, Katie, Jody and Lulu Miller, Allie and Geoffrey Baker and special friends Gary and Pat Freebury, Larry and Carmen Fields, Jean Ambrose, Betty Stockwell and Joan Gause. She was loved and well cared for by staff at WelCov, Heritage and Immanuel Lutheran.

Interment will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, in the Glacier Memorial Gardens, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Epworth United Methodist Church at 329 Seconds Ave. E., Kalispell, with a lunch following at noon.
