Paul S. McGrath, 76

Paul S. McGrath, 76, of Kalispell, passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, at theHealthCenter in Kalispell, due to complications of COPD and autoimmune disease of the lungs.

Paul was born to Fred and Margaret McGrath in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on April 5, 1942. The family moved west in 1946 where Paul graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1959; he joined the U.S. Navy Seabees in 1959 and served time on Guam, Wake and Midway Islands before being discharged in 1962.

Paul then attended Northern Arizona University from 1962 to 1966 and earned a bachelor’s degree. From 1966 to 1970 he attended Colorado State University and earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He then practiced medicine in Kingman, Arizona, for 10 years before moving to Kalispell in late 1979 where he married the love of his life, Sandra, in 1994.

Paul was a member of the Kalispell Elks, Eagles and a life member of the Montana Veterinary Medical Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother and sister.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; and two sons, Travis McGrath of Redmond, Washington, and Daniel McGrath of Chesterfield, Virginia; also a younger brother, Fred Jr., of Doylestown, Pennsylvania; and two stepdaughters, Amy Marvin and Heather Larson, both of Spokane. Paul and Sandie also have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory.
