Stevi uses fast start to top Polson

POLSON — Stevensville jumped out to a 20-0 lead en route to a 28-18 victory over Polson Friday night.

It was the Class A football opener for both schools.

Polson did all of its scoring in the second half on two touchdown passes by Boston Goode and Kordell Walker returned an interception 75 yards for six.

Polson had five turnovers and Stevensville three.

Polson plays at Dillon on Friday.

Hamilton 36, Whitefish 10

HAMILTON — Quarterback Carson Rostad was 25 of 44 for 272 yards passing for three touchdowns and ran 15 yards for another as Hamilton pulled away from Whitefish midway through the third quarter.

Mark Anderson, 7 of 11 passing for 115 yards, connected with Carver Gilman for a 51-yard scoring play in the third quarter to get Whitefish within seven, trailing 14-7.

Gilman also booted a 37-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Whitefish’s Chad Queen shared the quarterbacking duties and was 8 of 11 for 41 yards.

Whitefish had three fumble recoveries and an interception.

Whitefish hosts Frenchtown on Friday.

Bigfork 27, Manhattan 14

MISSOULA — Anders Epperly ran and passed for a touchdown, Randy Stultz scored twice and Luke Taylor had a pick six as Bigfork topped Manhattan in the Class B opener for both teams at Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

Manhattan scored first, and led 14-13 in the third quarter before Bigfork pulled away.

Stultz, who had a 26-yard scoring reception from Epperly and ran 3 yards for his other TD, netted 59 yards rushing on 20 attempts.

He also caught a team-high nine passes for 99 yards.

Epperly scored on a 1-yard run and was 18 of 30 passing for 185 yards.

Taylor’s interception return for a TD covered 17 yards.

Bigfork had 255 yards in total offense to 175 for Manhattan.

Bigfork plays at Anaconda on Friday.
