Peter 'Pete' John Barten, 85

Peter “Pete” John Barten, 85, passed away suddenly at his home near Lake Blaine Nov. 28, 2018.

Pete was born Jun 5, 1933, to Ted and Mary Barten in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, and was the oldest son of 14 children. Pete moved to Chicago where he met his wife, Geraldine “Pat” Barten, and where he learned the welding trade.

Pete and Pat were married in Chicago on Sept. 1, 1951.

Pete and Pat moved to Kalispell in 1977, and Pete owned and operated Barten’s Portable Welding Service for many years.

He continued working until just a couple of years ago and passed the business over to his grandson Logan.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Mary, his wife Pat, his brothers Ray Barten, Ole Barten, Ted Barten and Chuck Barten, and his sisters Ida Turner, Charlene Barten and Gerry Barten, and his grandson Tony Redmond.

He is survived by his daughters Dawn (Mike) Redmond of Ray, North Dakota, Joy Barten of Shelby, Michigan, his sons Dave (Alice) Barten of Kalispell, and Dean (Donna) Barten of Huntsville, Alabama. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

No services are being held at this time. A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
