Mary Sachkowsky, 102

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Sachkowsky announce her passing after a brief illness, on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Buffalo Hills Retreat, at the age of 102 years.

Mary was born on Aug. 17, 1916, to Lazur and Anastasia Novak, in South River, New Jersey.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael Sachkowsky, who were married on Nov. 22, 1941, in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Mary received her registered nursing degree in 1939 at Kings County Hospital, New York City. followed by her Bachelor of Science degree in 1968 at Jersey City State College. She excelled in her career in various hospitals and in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood school system as a school nurse of 25 years.

Mary was an avid reader, enjoyed deep discussions, and loved gardening, wildlife, camping and traveling to far off parts of the U.S., as well as Kenya, Turkey, Russia and Siberia.

She is remembered by her family, daughter Cathy Sachkowsky, sons Michael and Peter Sachkowsky of Columbia Falls, and by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to the Buffalo Hill Funeral Home, Hwy. 93 N., Kalispell, from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Dec. 5. Burial will be the following morning at 11 a.m. at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
