Pirates roll in wrestling duals

COLUMBIA FALLS – Polson defeated both Corvallis and Columbia Falls in duals hosted by the Matcats on Tuesday.

Jasper Drake (285) pinned Harley Wise of Corvallis in 58 seconds and Polson gained most of its points by forfeit. Rene Pierre (113), Bridger Wenzel (152) and Garrett Croft (160) all pinned their opponents.

Against Columbia Falls, Polson again benefitted from forfeits as well as pins by Pierre, Masyn Cowell (120), Jarod Farrier (132), Garrett Croft (160), and Hunter Fritsch (170).

Jakob Freeman (285) of Columbia Falls pinned Drake and Colton McPhee (205) pinned Justice Moore in 52 seconds. Ayden Role (138) also won by pin for the Matcats.

MISSOULA – Aydan Prieto (285) of Flathead pinned Missoula Sentinel’s Ramsey Knowles and Brendan Barnes moved up a weight class and pinned Sentinel’s Jackson Bakken at 126, but the Braves fell 48-42 to Sentinel.

“Tonight we sent our “Killer B’s” out to battle in the varsity matches, and we think they responded really well,” Flathead assistant coach Justin Whitman said. “Our varsity boys needed a little time to get rested after competing in Tri State and before we head off to Best of the West in Pasco, WA.”
