Libby edges Whitefish in duals

WHITEFISH – Libby/Troy edged Whitefish 40-36 to pick up a victory in Western A wrestling action on Thursday at Whitefish High School.

All the Bulldogs’ points came from six forfeits, and the Loggers won the seven other matches, four by pin. Hunter Hoover pinned Camren Ross in the 160-pound match to clinch the victory for Libby.

Whitefish lost its other two duals, 68-6 to Frenchtown and 42-33 to Hamilton/Darby.

Nathan Sproul (103), Noah Cooke (126), Leroy Orel (132) and Brian Sweeney (285) all earned pins against Hamilton.

The short-handed Loggers also dropped their other two matches, 54-16 to Frenchtown and 42-36 to Hamilton.

Hamilton won six matches by forfeit, while Libby had five pins.

Whitefish is in action again on Jan. 4 at the Cut Bank Invitational, and Libby will host Sandpoint on Jan. 3.
