State seeks input on Montana 35 improvements

| December 26, 2018 4:00 AM

The Montana Department of Transportation is asking for public input on a proposal to study improvement options on a segment of Montana 35 east of Kalispell.

The study area begins at reference post 48.1, about 0.2 miles west of the Fairmont Road/Amdahl Lane intersection. It extends west for 3 miles and ends at reference post 51.1 at the intersection with U.S. 2.

The study will evaluate options for surfacing rehabilitation and other improvements that may include minor roadway widening for 6-foot shoulders, roadside slope flattening, the improvement of drainage issues, upgrades to sidewalk and Americans With Disabilities Act facilities where necessary, signing and lighting upgrades, and localized roadbed stabilization.

The results of the study may lead to a design project that would develop plans for a future construction project.

The study is expected to be completed in late 2019.

For more information, contact Missoula District Administrator Ed Toavs at 406-523-5802 or Project Design Engineer Ben Nunnallee at 406-523-5846.

The public may submit written comments to the Montana Department of Transportation Missoula office at P.O. Box 7039, Missoula, MT 59807-7039.
