| December 30, 2018 4:00 AM

Rose Marie (Clark) Nielsen, 93, passed on peacefully, Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, in Kalispell.

Rose was born on Nov. 6, 1925, to Joseph and Rose (Marron) Clark in Kalispell. She was raised on the Clark homestead that was her grandparents’ farm from 1891 in the West Valley area. She attended Sparks School, St. Matthew’s Catholic School and graduated from Flathead County High School in 1943.

On Sept.1, 1948, Rose married Grant Nielsen at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. They were married for 52 years, until Grant’s passing in 2000. Together they raised seven children on the homestead.

Rose was a life-long member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed making pies and donated many pies for pie Sundays at the church. Through the years, she was a 4-H leader, sang with the Sweet Adelines, worked for her brother in his plumbing business and baked bread and helped serve at the high school cafeteria.

Rose was a strong, smart and generous woman of many talents. She loved to sew and made many quilts for her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She was an excellent artist and did some paintings in oils, acrylics and pencil sketches. Rose raised many gardens and especially loved her flowers. Her greatest love was reading. We had a hard time keeping her supplied with books.

She is survived by her children, Marty (Roger) Brewer, Ron (Pam) Nielsen, Kathy Nielsen, Rosalie (Paul) Seaman, Gerry (Diana) Nielsen, and Dennis Nielsen; grandchildren, Valerie (Dan) Osmun, Kevin (Cate) Brewer, Melanie (Luke) Carr, Julie Nielsen, Daniel Nielsen, Shane (Teresa) Schuring, Kristin (Richard) Bridges and Stephen Nielsen; and 13 great-grandchildren; her brother Chuck (Meliss) Clark, and sister-in-law Della Nielsen, brother-in-law Norm Wendt; along with several nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by both of her parents, husband Grant, daughter Michele Lynn Ostrom, great-granddaughter Reagan Everly Nielsen, brother Francis Clark, and sisters Catherine Clark and Patricia Wendt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Kalispell.

Please send donations to Flathead Industries, 66 4th Ave WN, Kalispell, MT 59901, or a charity of your choice.

To celebrate Rose’s life, a reception will be held across the street, at the First Presbyterian Church basement, following the service.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
