Minimal mayhem for a Friday night

Kalispell Police had a relatively light shift from Friday afternoon all the way to Saturday noon, possibly coinciding with a cold spell that kept people inside. Most of the calls that came in were requests for information, reports of accidents or questionable drivers and personal disputes that didn’t necessarily rise to the level of criminal activity.

Friday afternoon, police did take a call about a runaway girl from a distraught mom. She was eventually located, but it was unclear if mother and daughter were reunited.

A job applicant was discovered to have an outstanding warrant out of county, but by the time police heard about it, the applicant had checked out of a local motel and had vamoosed.

A woman’s 49-year-old son took her purse and poked her in the face. The woman said her son had a beer earlier in the morning and “that makes him crazy.” Eventually the woman drove away and the man left on foot. “No further action taken.”

Another woman called to report two 16-year-old twin boys beating on each other in the front yard. The youths were cautioned.

A woman who said she had been thrown out of bed by her significant other later said “nothing happened” and it was just an argument. It appears that an arrest was made nonetheless.

A caller told police about two sexual assaults that had taken place several weeks earlier.

A man started to send messages to an ex-girlfriend threatening to kill her. Her restraining order against him had expired several years ago, and she does not know his current whereabouts.

A welfare check was done for an unconscious man in a building lobby. Turns out he was sleeping and had just been “searching for a warm place” to lay down his head.
