Kalispell City Council on Tuesday approved the issuance of nearly $100,000 to purchase a new excavator. The successful bid came from Columbia Falls-based Northwest Parts and Equipment, and was the lowest price the city received.

Also on Tuesday, council approved a final plat for Glacier Village Greens Subdivision, phase 21 of 22 total phases. Planning Director Tom Jentz said all of the conditions the council set for this 18-lot residential subdivision had been met. The project is located on the west side of Glacier Village Greens golf course.

In a separate agenda item, council OK’d an additional final plat for a three-lot multi-family residential subdivision on a 3.8 acre tract of land known as the Owl View Subdivision north of Old Reserve Drive.

At the end of the meeting, Councilman Rod Kuntz lauded the city of Whitefish for its record-break resort tax collections in 2017. He mentioned that he thought Kalispell could stand to benefit from the additional income of a resort tax.

The council canceled next week’s work session, and thus won’t convene again until their regular meeting on March 5 at 7 p.m.
