Carol Mae Flottman Olson, 85
Carol Mae Flottman Olson passed away Feb. 19, 2018.
Carol was born March 28,1932, in Kalispell to Edward Albert and Georgia Catherine (nee Moore) Flottman.
Both of Carol’s parents were teachers in the Kalispell schools. While growing up, Carol enjoyed time in Glacier National Park where during the summers her father was a temporary ranger for the National Park Service. She had many stories about this time, including encountering bears and riding on horseback to Sperry Lodge. Carol loved her family and taught the importance of heritage, traditions and love for God.
Carol was married to Donald Elmer “Bud” Olson for 34 years and raised their four daughters in Kalispell, Libby, Missoula and Stevensville.
Carol was preceded in death by her daughters, Karen Sue Foss (Richard) of Libby, and Judith Marie MacAskill (Donald) of Whitefish. She is survived by her sister Susan Marie Frandsen Doran of Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, daughters Kathleen Ann Jovin (David) of Valley Center, California, and Janice Lynn Damron Hannum (Kenneth) of Spokane, Washington; grandchildren Scott Foss, Pamela Albiero (Brian), Amy Moore (Craig), Melanie MacAskill Kramer, Donald MacAskill, Adam Jovin, Justin Damron, Ryan Damron, Andrew Damron, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also surviving are a niece, Mary Katherine Frandsen (Theodore A. Messier), a nephew, Michael Lawrence Frandsen, his wife Sharon (nee Thompson), and two grand-nieces, Jane Katherine and Katherine Moore Frandsen. Cousins surviving are Marion (nee Manning) O’Connell (Dennis) of Kalispell, JoAnn (nee Manning) Oliphant of Tacoma, Washington, and Elaine McDermod (nee Clark) of Carmel, California, and sister-in-law Shirley (nee Olson) MacLachlan of Kalispell.
