Avis Arleene Wang, 81

| January 2, 2018 3:42 PM

Avis Arleene Wang was born to Clinton and Hazel Johnson on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, 1936, in Glasgow and passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2017, in Spokane.

Avis grew up in the Flathead Valley where she attended a one-room schoolhouse. She then attended Flathead County High School and that is when she met the love of her life, Marvin Wang. They were married at Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Somers on Aug. 30, 1953. Avis and Marvin lived in many cities and states but always returned to the Flathead and finally settled in Somers in 1972. They eventually moved into Kalispell, and most recently Spokane, to be closer to their daughter and her family.

Avis loved spending time with her family and friends. She belonged to many bowling leagues, enjoyed playing games and was spiritually fed with her weekly Bible studies.

Avis and Marvin loved to travel and spent many of their journeys with a group of friends they called “The Shaky Eight.” They made multiple trips to Alaska and traveled all over the Northwest during their retirement, but her favorite was camping with family and friends.

Avis was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clinton Johnson, mother Hazel Johnson, and older sister, Yvonne Earl.

Avis is survived by her loving husband, Marvin Wang, her younger sister Janice Hosford, daughters Shannon Coburn (Mitch) and Karen Robinson (Dan), and two beautiful grandchildren, Kyle Coburn and Lindsey Robinson.

The family has chosen not to hold a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your local hospice organization.
