Ammo 'most definitely live and large'

Following the death of her husband, a woman told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office she was going through his belongings when she stumbled across a box labeled “live ammo, large.” When she opened the box, the woman reportedly found some kind of unidentified bullets and stated they were “most definitely live and large.” She requested information on how to dispose of them.

A man reported the theft of $20,000 in cash from his ex-wife’s home in Kalispell.

A man suspected to be intoxicated called dispatch to report hearing a blast over his house. When asked for his address the man reportedly said “911” and hung up.

A woman reported hearing shots fired on South Fork Drive followed by what reportedly sounded like a male moaning in the woods nearby. Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate anyone.

Someone reported hearing three gunshots off Conrad Drive near a popular duck hunting spot. It is duck season.

Someone reported spotting a white strobe light in the vicinity of the railroad tracks from Happy Valley using binoculars. The caller expressed concern that someone was having trouble and trying to get attention with the light. Officers located the source of the light at the aluminum plant atop a power line.

A man claiming to be former military reported hearing rapid machine-gun fire near Blacktail Road. The man told dispatch he “spent decades in the military so [he] knows what it sounds like.” Officers were unable to locate the source of the noise.

A man stated his vehicle was broken into while he was fishing. The allegedly stolen items included hand tools, business records and insurance information.

A woman reported a group of juveniles to Kalispell Police for attempting to trick-or-treat in January. One of the males reportedly rang her doorbell multiple times and banged on her door. When she answered the boy reportedly stood there staring at her before saying “trick-or-treat” and retreating to a car full of juveniles when she threatened to call the police.

A male reportedly stole an unidentified item from a grocery store, removing the item from its packaging and putting it into his pocket. The store employee said the man left in a van with an unidentified driver. The store requested both unidentified parties be trespassed for stealing the unidentified item.

Columbia Falls Police took a female black lab mix found on Nucleus Avenue to the Flathead County Animal Shelter.

A business owner on Nucleus Avenue reported finding suspected drug paraphernalia on the floor.
